A good friend suggested this site for the wealth of information and detailed analysis. In this time we will be gleaning for many sources. Use your own discernment.

WHAT MAKES A SAFE LOCATION?
I don't endorse Zeta Talk, however I appreciate gleaning data sets from multiple sources. This is only a suggestion. Analyze for yourself. 7 Steps to Analyze a Location
JOEL SKOUSKEN HAS A BOOK AND HAS PROMOTED RESEARCH FOR SAFE LOCATIONS.

WSO LEADER ADVICE
Seriously The first thing that should be on the mind, is Height, Water, Wild life, Shelter, an abundance of wood for fuel.
It must be as far Away from the coast, as possible with a way to keep moving, and not being marooned or trapped:
Fortunately we have a range that will take the brunt of a large wave, and possibly hold the water in check,

This is were you will need a map showing the contour lines showing heights, a survey type, or orienteering, this way you will know where the low areas are and high areas, as well as the direction needed to stay high and dry. Also were it shows water courses, “streams” and catchments at higher altitudes, against water courses, “streams” and catchments that will no longer exist with a flood,
Now these will be the places were wild life will head, and were your very survival in the early days-weeks or months, will depend:
So in all reality: You must keep away from the likes of small towns, isolated mountains, (extinct volcanoes) or small high Plato, as they will possibly become islands, or flowing lava beds, so this is where planning comes in, study your map, note what tracks or side roads, keep you high, the goal will be to reach the Range: and even then make sure it’s the correct part of the range, or you will be only out of the frying pan and into the fire:
One place that comes to mind, that could become a trap and then a total nightmare, is the likes of Mount Tambourin, if it becomes an island, What happens when the food runs out, as there is a large township there, as well as the people ... that will head straight there thinking they will be safe, when in fact they will become marooned, and an overcrowded, place with food running out, and open to the elements, is a place worse you don't want to be.
So you will need at least two compasses, (just in case you lose one), and really everyone in the group should have a compass, though maybe relying on them may be a problem with a pole shift, (but that can be compensated for if you can read a map proficiently, using's its north against landmarks you recognise, you can compensate with the compass, creating a new North, were the deg line up now with the North on the map: (quite simple really), but you will have to keep checking just in case its an unstable north, which by all accounts it will be, a few mirrors, will be part of your compass kit, (make up mirrors are ideal for this as they are usually in a case: They will be used for signalling, and other uses.
Now its important to get a decent orienteering Map , the scout shop has them, and good camping stores, (don't just buy one- you will need a few maps, and very important, a water proof map pouch, a hint, and its works, ( if you laser print a few A4 or even A3 size ones scanned of your map in sections, ASAP- {NOW}, not when it power off time, and then you spray them with silicon spray, you will then have a waterproof one, that will last quite a while, (by the way-it does not work to well on ink printers): while you are scanning make a few extras, Now keep these maps separately, they will tend to stick together, so just place each one- in one of those A4 clear sleeves. And using a good tape sealing the top of the sleeve.
If you are not sure how to orienteer, then do a crash course {NOW} not when on move:

I have books, but I don’t have them scanned, sorry: maybe if you did a search on the likes of ebay, or some of the second hand book stores you may be able to get a book. its not hard to become very efficient at it, ( I do hope there is no Flat-eathers amongst your group, otherwise you are screwed before you start, be best to ditch them straight away.
Another handy tip:
Keep all your vitamin containers, and buy a lot of matches, Red head, are the best, (as the cheap ones are what’s now know as a lucky strike): because with luck they may strike, (what I do, is empty the boxes, cut off the striking strips, on each end of the box, I then melt a candle, and dip each match in the wax, You don’t have to dip the matches, but if you do make sure to not get to much wax on the head, let them dry, then I pack them into the empty containers, I have quite a few of these life savers put aside, (as at a later date they can be used to barter for other goods) I also have magnesium striking sticks, very handy:

Now once you fill the bottles (I do mine with the matches heads up ) place some cotton wool on the matches, then you, place the strike edges in or some 180 to 200 emery paper strips, you don't need much, (keep a few sheets of this stuff, very handy) Now once I have the matches in the bottles, I stuff cotton wool on the top then pour the hot wax in to seal it before placing the cap on, I then seal the cap by using electrical, Now those matches will keep dry even if submerged, I never had any problems on the many canoeing trips I did were I spent some time in the water or out in heavy rain, also another trick but you need duet string, not nylon or plastic: you can make fire starters, to light that difficult fire, when it’s cold and windy, and there is not much cover or shade, you melt a candle, and cut the duet string in lengths of 2 Mts or less, now you pass the string through the hot wax slowly allowing it to soak into the string, while wrapping it around a 50 mm long piece of thick twig, (Try to make it a dry twig, this could come in handy at some time, to help light a fire) Now when you want to light a fire that is difficult, (remembering to only use it then) just cut of a piece or two max and gently pack your tinder around it, light and you will find it burns nice and slow, never rush- but slowly in stages, you can now build the fire up till its gets under way:
I will get my list of what you should have for bartering at a later date:
You will be surprised, what you will miss, and never thought of.
Here are a few links showing a rocket stove,
I am going to make small portable ones, and small water heaters, using the rocket stove principle. (portable).
There are so many uses:
The funny thing is back in the Victorian times, in the very posh mansions, they had bath water heaters that were small rockets stoves with a coil around the pipe,
Then the along came electricity, so the idea was lost:

That should keep you entertained for a while : I will send lots of links for some good info to down load,
As well as the link to down load the SAS survival manual. Cover lots of things, over 500 pages,
I printed the whole thing, bought a laser printer from office works for $35 and three toner cartridges from ebay for $26,
And set to:
Have field medical books to print yet.
I am not sure if I sent this link:
But share it:

JUNE 8TH MEET UP EVENT
The Springfield Conservation Nature Center has Events on Outdoor Skills and Exploration that I have used to build my knowledge base. I learned primitive fire making and tree identification.
This June 8th they have a Medicinal and Edible Plants class at two different times. It is free but you do have to register for it.
I would like to use this as a neutral meet up place.
We can learn together what we will need to know for survival. If we want to go some where after that we can. Check out the event times at the link above and then email me which time would be best for you. I will make myself available to your time(s). I will be identified by the yellow sparkle baseball cap.
This is just a step to see who we are and discuss where we are at. No big committments just an easy intro.
Be wise, Be safe, Blessings!
